Travaglini’s unforgettable bottle shape contains a classic Gattinara: full-bodied and attractive.
Travaglini’s Gattinara red wine is produced with pure Nebbiolo (here called Spanna), grown on the hills at the foot of Monte Rosa west of the Sesia river. It is an ancient production area, in fact the first vineyards were planted by the Romans and Gattinara was called the Catullus’ Altar. This Gattinara comes from vineyards located between 300 and 450 m above sea level, cultivated with the Guyot system and benefit from a particular microclimate due to the protection of the Alps and the southern exposure. The soil is rich in porphyry of volcanic origin, which gives Nebbiolo a character of finesse and power.
Grapes ferment in steel tanks at a controlled temperature with a total maceration on the skins of 15-18 days. The wine ages 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
