Brunello di Montalcino 2016
Brunello Casisano is made according to tradition without forcing the time required for the production of a great wine. It is powerful and elegant just as a Brunello di Montalcino is supposed to be. The advantage of Casisano is the location of the vineyards at a high altitude, 480 meters above sea level, on the southern slope of the Montalcino hill between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell’Abate. In this area of Montalcino, the influence of Monte Amiata on the microclimate is decisive, it is the driest place of the appellation area. In addition, the altitude guarantees significant temperature variations between night and day during the summer days before the harvest. The specific location is also influenced by the warm breezes that come from the Tyrrhenian Sea and by the wind that blows along the river Orcia.
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with only indigenous yeasts. Maceration with the skins lasts 25 days. The wine then ages in large oak barrels for 3 years and 6 months in the bottle.
