Located in the province of Arezzo, on the right bank of the Arno river, Tenuta Sette Ponti is one of the most prestigious wineries in the upper Arno valley, in the perimeter of the historic appellation Valdarno di Sopra DOC, already identified by Cosimo III de’ Medici in his 1716 Act as an area of quality production to be placed under protection.
The estate extends for over 300 hectares in Castiglion Fibocchi and there are over 50 hectares of vineyards. The soils are variable: partly rich in marl and partly sands mixed with silt and the altitude is between 200 and 300 m. It grows both native and international varieties. Its best known wine is undoubtedly Oreno, a so-called Supertuscan, born in 1999, but their pure Sangiovese Vigna dell’Impero is also convincing.
The Moretti Cuseri family bought the estate in the 1950s as a hunting reserve and only later decided to transform it into a quality wine production company. Antonio Moretti Cuseri, a real estate and fashion entrepreneur, developed the wine business by also purchasing two other wineries in Tuscany: Orma in Bolgheri and Poggio al Lupo in Maremma. The company works organically.
