List of products by brand Podere il Castellaccio
Podere il Castellaccio
Podere il Castellaccio has appeared on the Bolgheri wine scene a few years ago thanks to the commitment of a young local man: Alessandro Scappini. Actually, Alessandro's family farm had been growing vines, as well as olive trees and raising animals for years.
Alessandro made a turning point with the creation of new vineyards, planted with the varieties suitable for producing wines under the Bolgheri appellation. The old vineyard cultivated with the typical local varieties of Tuscany has remained as an important heritage of an ancient tradition. From this vineyard Podere il Castellaccio is proud to produce three labels that recall the local tradition based on Sangiovese, Pugnitello, Ciliegiolo and Foglia tonda. From the new vineyards, on the other hand, the winery made its debut with a Bolgheri Rosso starting from the 2015 harvest and with a Bolgheri Superiore starting from the 2018 harvest.
Podere il Castellaccio is located on the Segalari hill behind the town of Castagneto Carducci. This is the hilly area south-east of the appellation, with a soil rich in stones and red ferruginous components. The vineyards extend on the side overlooking the sea until they touch the Via Bolgherese, an excellent position for producing the best Bolgheri Rosso.
