The Lapierre winery (currently with 13 hectares under vine), headed by Mathieu Lapierre son of Marcel, was founded in 1981 in Villié-Morgon, in the heart of the Beaujolais, by Michael Lapierre, we can say that Marcel's great merit was the transition to a totally natural philosophy.

The climate is 'temperate ocenic', the seasons are varied: winters are cold and rainy, springs are rather hot and humid, summers are dry and arid and autumns offer warm days and cool nights. The soils of the Beaujolais are acidic and draining, conditions that are perfect for the cultivation of Gamay, the only grape variety grown on this estate. The soil is sandy with schist composed of silica, quartz and manganese.
