Lis Neris

The Lis Neris winery is an extremely reliable winery, the protagonist of contemporary Friulian enology, in particular it is the leader of the DOC Friuli Isonzo. The name Lis Neris, or the black ones, refers to the women who worked in the fields Lis Neris has been managed for 5 generations by the Pecorari family starting from 1879, but it is only from the 80s that thanks to Alvaro Pecorari, it launched into production of quality wines with own labels. The vineyards are located in the Isonzo Valley in the province of Gorizia, in the easternmost part of the region. It is a particular territory, of morainic origin, as the valley was shaped by glaciers in prehistoric times, which, advancing and retreating, eroded the rocks of the mountain and created a clayey bed rich in minerals and gravel. It is a land where the vine is able to grow and give a grape suitable for the production of great white wines.
The company has no certifications, but works in a way that respects the environment and health without the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Instead, mechanical and manual weeding and grassing operations are favored and only natural fertilizers such as humus and copper and sulfur are used to defend the plant from disease. Lis Neris has 74 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with native and international vines. In reality, the international varieties have been around here for at least 50 years and are considered part of the tradition, which is that of a border area. Lis Neris annually produces around 400,000 bottles.
