Hofstätter is the largest private winery in Alto Adige (South Tyrol). The headquarters are located in Termeno (Tramin) and the vineyards extend on both sides of the Adige river south of Bolzano (the so-called Bassa Atesina). It was founded in 1907 by Josef Hofstätter and today belongs to Martin Foradori, the fourth generation of the family managing the estate.
The 50 hectares of vineyards are many plots in different areas with altitudes ranging from 350 to 900 m. It cultivates both white and black grape varieties and over the years has identified the best vineyards for each variety, adopting a sort of zoning within the property. The production is therefore very focused on the territory with a wide range of single vineyard wines.
The name of Hofstätter is also linked to the success of Pinot Noir from Alto Adige and in particular of the Mazzon microarea, where the estate has a vineyard and a farm, from which it produces two bottles that have become iconic: the Barthenau Vigna S. Urbano and the Vigna Roccolo.
