List of products by brand Diamond - Demerara Distilleries
Diamond - Demerara Distilleries
The Diamond distillery is the only one currently present in Guyana and belongs to the Demerara Distillers company. Diamond has collected all the traditions of the distilleries once active in Guyana, one of the smallest counries in Latin America among other things.
The production of spirits was born with the Dutch domination in the seventeenth century but only after Guyana became a British colony in 1813, the production of rum became a serious matter to the point of being exported all over the world. But the crisis in the sugar industry and prohibition saw a moment of arrest and the closure of all the historic distilleries except one: Diamond. This managed to recover the old stills, some even made of wood, present in the country and put them into production.
Among these are pot stills, double pot stills and column stills. El Dorado is the main Rum brand created in 1992 and available in various types with different aging. In addition, Diamond produces Rum with other brands trying to preserve the style of the glorious distilleries of Guyana's past, which were located along the Demerara River. It is as if various distilleries found space in the Diamond plant.
