In the context of wine production on Etna, Cottanera is one of the wineries with the largest vineyard extension and is also a point of reference for the quality of its wines. The 65 hectares of vineyards are divided into several locations, or “Contrada”, on the northern side of the Volcano. The business began with the Cambria family in 1990 in Castiglione di Sicilia where the winery is based.
Today the second generation carries on the production with great passion. Almost all the activities are carried out by hand including the harvest, to pay the utmost attention to every detail. This allows to give value to the specificities of the territory and it is for this reason that Cottanera has decided to specify on the label of their wines the Contrada from which the grapes come.
In addition to traditional wines made with native grapes, Cottanera also produces modern wines with international grape varieties, grown on Etna for almost a century. Cottanera wines are distinguished by stylistic precision and respect for the Etna terroir.
