Cà dei Frati

The Cà dei Frati winery is one of the main productive realities of the Lugana area on the southern shore of Lake Garda. The name "Cà dei Frati" refers to a place historically called the "place of the friars", where in 1939 the del Cero family from the province of Verona moved. The winery is located in Sirmione and was among the promoters of the Lugana DOC. In 1969 the first Lugana di Cà dei Frati label was released.

The vineyards extend in the center of the Lugana area, part in the province of Brescia and part in the province of Verona near the southern coast of Lake Garda. It is a unique area for the cultivation of vines, the result of a reclamation operation that has left an important layer of light clay that becomes particularly hard and difficult to work when dry and is extremely muddy when wet. In addition, the area benefits from the mild climate due to the proximity of the lake: in winter the temperatures are never rigid and in the summer there is refreshment due to the lake breezes. The mild climate is also proved by the presence of olive and lemon trees.

Cà dei Frati has specialized over the years in the cultivation of these lands and in developing Lugana white wines starting from the Turbiana grape. Recently the winery has also purchased land in Valpolicella.
