The Bucciarelli family has been managing the Antico Podere Casanova in the northernmost part of the municipality of Castellina in Chianti for several generations. It is a small family-run farm, today in the hands of Ezio Bucciarelli and his son Massimo.
The property covers 20 hectares of which 7 are vineyards. The vineyards lie on the left side of the Pesa stream at 400 m above sea level in front of the well known Conca d'Oro di Panzano, an excellent exposure to the east that gets the morning sun. The winery is run on an organic basis and the wine making is traditional.
Despite the quality, Bucciarelli wines are not widely known, because Ezio Bucciarelli does not send wines to guides and sells most of the bottles to foreign customers.
