The Antonelli family bought the San Marco estate from the Bishop of Spoleto in 1881 and already at the end of the century they were cultivating vineyards for wine production. San Marco is located on the western slope of the Montefalco hill in Umbria at over 300m above sea level.
Since 1979, the winery has been bottling its wines made from 52 hectares of vineyards as part of the Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG. Antonelli cultivates all the grape varieties typical of the area and produces an articulated range of white and red labels. The altitude of the vineyards allows for fine and elegant wines and Antonelli has become one of the leading Umbrian wine producers.
The cellar was built in the center of the property and designed to be able to work using gravity instead of pumps in transferring the wine in the various production phases. The company works organically and uses only its own grapes.
