List of products by brand Altesino
Altesino
With over 40 hectares of vineyards and an important history, Altesino is a leading producer of Brunello di Montalcino. The estate headquarters is located on the northern slope of the Montalcino hill, where elegant style Brunellos are made. It has belonged to the Gnudi Angelini family for almost 20 years, but the estate has a very long history. The Altesi castle - where it is based - dates back to the 15th century and the Brunello wine making was already effective in the 1970s. In the 1970s, Altesino distinguished himself as a producer both for having been the first to experiment with small barriques for the aging of Brunello di Montalcino and for having made a single-vineyard Brunello as early as 1975: Brunello Montosoli.
Montosoli is a small hill on the north side of Montalcino and is considered particularly suited for elegant wines. The Altesino vineyards are in fact divided into 5 different parcels, most of them on the northern side and two also on the southern and southeastern sides. The new owner has renovated the cellar to facilitate operations with rooms dedicated to the various production stages, from fermentation to bottling. Today Altesino is inspired by tradition and uses only large barrels.
