1701

Although the name refers to a historical date, 1701 identifies a young Franciacorta winery based in Cazzago San Martino in the province of Brescia. It was born with the project of producing wines in Franciacorta based on biodynamic agriculture. Two brothers lead the company: Silvia and Federico Stefini, who have involved other friends who are convinced, like them, in the goodness of clean and environmentally friendly agriculture.
They have 10 hectares of vineyards from which they produce both sparkling and still wines. In total 50,000 bottles a year.
The vineyards extend around Cazzago San Martino in the heart of the morainic amphitheater of Franciacorta. In the vineyard they use only biodynamic preparations, compost, copper and sulfur; they use the practice of green manuring to maintain the fertility of the soil and prefer manual processing, especially the harvest is always strictly manual.
The company is named after a 3.5-hectare vineyard called Brolo, completely surrounded by a wall. The Brolo vineyard has existed for centuries and its first documented harvest dates back to 1701. Hence the name of the company.
