Gattinara Riserva 2017 (magnum with own box)
To produce its Gattinara Riserva, with a long oak aging, Travaglini chooses the best grapes from the oldest vineyards. The wine is made only in the most favorable years. The plants are between 45 and 65 years old, and grow on rocky soils rich in porphyry of volcanic origin. The microclimate is influenced by the cool winds that come from the Alps and slow down the ripening of Nebbiolo. This favors the accumulation of acidity in the pulp of the berries and aromatic compounds in the skins.
The grapes ferment in steel vats at a controlled temperature with a maceration of 15-18 days. The wine ages 4 years in large Slavonian oak barrels and one year in the bottle.
