It comes from Tuscan Maremma, it is an innovative rosé, light and sensual, with a Provençal inspiration.
The Alìe rosé has been produced since 2014 at Frescobaldi’s Ammiraglia estate in Maremma with Syrah and Vermentino grapes. It is an innovative wine in the Tuscan context, which reminds of some rosés from Provence in style and blend. It is no coincidence that in Provence the rosé is the most produced wine and the Provençal rosé wines are famous and sought after all over the world. The idea is to think of a rosé as a wine with its own personality, made of lightness and elegance and not as a substitute for a red. The project foresees a specific harvest date to have good acidity in the berries and not too many sugars, a wine making that preserves the fragrance of the grapes and a bottle that communicates the ethereal style of the wine.
Frescobaldi's Alìe rosé is all this. It is produced from vineyards not far from the sea, whose microclimate is mitigated by sea breezes and enjoys many hours of sunlight. Factors that favor the good ripening of the grapes. Furthermore, Alìe is vinified in a modern cellar, made with attention to sustainability and efficiency. Frescobaldi has chosen for this wine the name of a sea nymph, Alìe, a symbol of beauty and sensuality.
The grapes are quickly transported to the cellar and the whole bunches are placed in the press in the absence of oxygen. With a very gentle pressure, a pure free-run must is extracted, slightly tinged with pink in the case of Syrah grapes. The must is left to clear by cold decanting. It then ferments in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine ages in steel in contact with its lees for a few months before being bottled.
